Obama Adviser Stands by Assertion That Pope Benedict XVI Is "Hurting People in the Name of Jesus"

From Cybercast News Service:
(CNSNews.com) – Harry Knox, who serves on President Barack Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, is standing by a statement he made last March that Pope Benedict XVI is “hurting people in the name of Jesus.”

When asked on Tuesday whether he still holds that view that the pope "is hurting people in the name of Jesus," Knox said, “I do.”

Aside from his comment being offensive, it's factually flawed. With the exceptions of Swaziland (20%) and Kenya (33%), Catholics make up the vast minority of African countries' populations with the highest prevalences of AIDS among adults. My guess is a country such as South Africa that has a population that is 93% non-Catholic yet has the second highest incidence of AIDS among adults couldn't care less what the Pope has to say and their behavior is little affected by him.

The CIA World Fact book is easily accessible online, Mr. Knox.
