You know, I don't trust politicians as a class, and I would only trust a pro-life Republican slightly further than I could throw Ted Kennedy. BUT, this is precisely the reason why people people who care most about life issues find it very hard to support a Democrat who claims to care about life. Their party is not just wrong an many things like the Republican party is, it's just a political machine that is rotten to the core. I haven't examined the history, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that pro-abort Republicans tend to vote more pro-life than "pro-life" Democrats. It's a problem of character and party, and it's a perfectly good reason to never for a Democrat (at least for state or national office).

Exactly, Rick. Which is why I've only voted for 2 Democrats for Congress in my entire life (one from Texas and one from Virginia). Both solidly pro-life, and both willing to cross the aisle quite often to vote with Republicans on pro-life and other issues.

They both were so ostracized within the Dem Party for their votes that they eventually became indepenents caucusing with the Republicans.
