A Christmas Story in Cleveland
A Christmas Story House, now restored to its movie splendor, is open year round to the public for tours. Directly across the street from the house is the official A Christmas Story House Museum, which features original props, costumes and memorabilia from the film, as well as rare behind-the-scenes photos and a gift shop.Tickets and Admission

This has got to be one of my favorite Christmas Traditions, 24hrs of "A Christmas Story". My sister's in-laws live in Cleveland so she been to the house. She reminds me of that every year. The pictures were great. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and don't shoot your eye out!

They still make the red ryder air rifle -- the older boys should be ready any year now.
They actually sell them in the gift shop at the Christmas Story House. We've already told Jamie (who's 5-and-a-half) that he has to wait until he's 10 (maybe we'll make it 9-and-a-half) before he can have a BB gun.
Aidan responded while we were looking at the air rifles in the gift shop: "I don't want Jamie have a BB gun. I don't want Jamie shoot his eye out."
The right of passage for a spring-air BB gun is 8 years old. It's the law or something. 10-12 years old for a pump, 12 for a shotgun, 14 for a rifle, 18 for a handgun, and stint in the armed forces for an artillery piece or missile system, etc.

Would you believe me if I told you that I only so much as saw a gun up-close, live and personal ... when I was 29.
So there isn't much to do in Ohio outside of Buckeye football eh?
Two years ago, I watched this movie for the first time, and now we watch it with the girls every year. I actually cry when Ralphie's dad points out the BB gun and he opens it! So sweet!
BTW, when Big Girl read (in the comments above) that the Red Ryder Gun is still made, she asked, "Can I get one?"
Oh, I'm jealous! That is one of my all-time favorite movies!
Merry Christmas! (And it's still Christmas until the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord -- one of the big advantages to being Catholic!)
